A. Baseplate Features (click on a picture for a larger view)
All seats are built on 16 gauge formed steel baseplates. The baseplates have rubber supports at contact points to protect the fender.

B. Removal of Stock Seat

  1. In most cases, remove stock seat by loosening the rear fender screw. The 1/4-20 captive screw stays with the factory seat bracket. The Mustang seats have their own mounting hardware and include a 1/4-20 x 1/2" chrome fender screw.
  2. Remove handstrap from fender with a 7/16" wrench then re-install bolt.

C. Mounting of Mustang Seat

Solo Seat

  1. Remove the front-most rear fender strut bolt with a T-45 driver wrench and loosen the rear bolt. (Do not remove the rear strut bolt, just loosen it.)
  2. Slide the seat nose bracket into the frame receiver at the base of the tank just like the stock seat.
  3. Push solo forward until the side brackets drop into the fender strut recesses.
  4. Re-install bolts through the strut and the solo's side brackets. Leave bolts loose until the rear seat is installed.

Rear Seat

  1. With solo in place, slide our rear seat's tongue bracket into the solo seat's receiver. Make sure the tongue is into the receiver and not just into the leather bottom panel.
  2. Solo and rear seat can be slid together first, then bolted to the motorcycle. This ensures that the seats are joined together correctly.
  3. Install supplied 1/4-20 x 1/2" chrome screw with a #3 Phillips screwdriver.

Enjoy the comfort of your new Mustang seat.
